International Accounting Standards Board
Middle East Policy Forum
13th May 2008, Convention Centre Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

By Invitation Only

About the meeting:

This is the International Accounting Standards Committee Foundation’s (IASCF) first Regional Policy Forum. Its goal is to discuss the essential issues for the adoption and enforcement of standards in the Middle East region.

This isn’t a conference but, an invite only round table style discussion, the objective of which is to put a frame work in place for official communication and involvement of a small group of key regulators, policymakers, and other interested parties from the region with the IASB/IASCF.

International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) are now applied in over 100 countries around the globe. The adoption and convergence with other standards continues and is very important for the Middle East region, this is why the IASB is putting so much emphasis on establishing regional representation.

The IASB/IASCF delegation will be led by Tom Jones, Vice Chairman of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), and Tom Seidenstein, Director of Operations, IASCF.

Programme & activities:

12th May, 20:00 – 21:00
Informal dinner

We are delighted to host all invitees to an informal dinner, which is going to be a great opportunity for us to get to know each other. This will take place on the evening of Monday 12th May at a restaurant to be advised. 8.00pm

13th May, 09:00 – 17:00
Round table meeting

The programme can be seen below and addresses the key issues concerning IFRS and the Middle East region. We have deliberately stayed away from a standard conference format because it’s very important we have open dialogue, so this is going to be very much a two way process.

13th May, 17:00 - 18:00
Informal function

A great opportunity to cement the relationships formed during the day.
